I’m a big fan of electric shavers. They’re portable, they’re convenient and most importantly they’ve now improved to the point where some models can deliver a shave that’s just as close as a standard razor and cream. One of those is the Philips Norelco 1150x/40 SensoTouch 2d Electric Shaver, which is my new best friend. I’ve gone through dozens of different electric rotary shavers from all the major brands but have hard trouble finding a rotary shaver that did really well until I came across the Philips Norelco SensoTouch rotary shavers.
But before I go into the details of my experience with this shaver over the past few months, let’s take a quick look at the specs.
The 1150x/40 SensoTouch 2d Electric Shaver from Philips features 2D gyro flex and skin glide technology, which in layman’s terms translates into a smooth, clean shave every time. The shaving head pivots and tilts to hug every contour of your face and neck, including hard-to-reach areas around your chin, all with minimal pressure, which reduces irritation and the dreaded razor burn.
This model also features wet/dry technology, which means you can shave in or out of the shower, and with or without shaving cream or lather. To top it all off, the 1150x/40 comes with an elegant charging stand and is good for about two weeks or 14 shaves on a single charge, making it the perfect shaver to take with you whenever you travel.
My Experience with the Philips Norelco 1150x/40
Alright, now that the specs are out of the way, let’s get to the million dollar question: does this electric shaver deliver the goods? Absolutely! I can’t begin to tell you how impressed I am with this shaver. And believe me, when you’ve tried as many as I have over the years, it’s hard to get excited when a new model comes out because mostly it’s just more of the same in a shinier, fancier package. But that’s not the case with the 1150x/40 SensoTouch 2d Electric Shaver from Philips.
For starters, this is a wet/dry shaver, which I love because I can shave while I’m in the shower. Not only do I get a better shave while my face is wet, but I don’t have trimmed facial hairs flying all over the sink, counter and floor, which drives my wife absolutely crazy. The blades are also incredibly sharp, which means no painful pulling or yanking and because the head hugs your face so well, you don’t have to go over the same spot over and over and over again (a common complaint with electric shavers). Best of all, it simply delivers a smooth, clean shave that my wife loves (she can’t keep her hands off my face!).
- Wet/Dry design so you can shave in the shower or with lather
- Runs for about 2 weeks on a single charge
- Turbo charge feature recharges in 3 minutes or less if you’re in a hurry and forgot to charge it
- Smooth clean shave that’s indistinguishable from a traditional razor and cream
- No irritation or razor burn
- Can’t use it while plugged in but since it has the turbo charge feature, this is only a minor annoyance
The Bottom Line
Overall, I am very pleased with the Philips Norelco 1150x/40. I’ve now retired the other electrics I had kicking around the bathroom and use this model exclusively because it delivers the smoothest shave of any model I’ve tried so far. I’d have no problem whatsoever recommending this to any guy out there, or anyone who is shopping for the guy in their life that needs a reliable electric shaver.
